Review of Sophos UTM
The appeal is how the gateway brings firewall inspection, intrusion prevention, web filtering, and scanning into one place for perimeter security. That consolidated view makes network oversight more manageable, especially when I am helping a team understand what is monitored and where potential risks are visible.
I have not found a major gap in the core approach so far. The range of controls can make onboarding feel like a lot to absorb at once, and the team needs a clear read on the traffic and risk information for reporting to be useful.
It supports a solid perimeter baseline for our work. Firewall and filtering sit together. VPN adds a practical option. I like having threat controls and monitoring in one security gateway, with visibility that helps teams keep their response grounded.
