The awkward part is getting everyone comfortable with another place to record time, then making sure managers can see the status they need; the simple interface helps adoption, though it does not remove the need to explain the routine and check that entries are complete, which is where implementation still takes attention in a small legal office.
For checking labor patterns, generated reports and export are genuinely useful, and the one month trial gives a sensible way to test the routine before paying; still, I would want a clear setup path and careful review of access arrangements before relying on it for every pay period, because a tidy screen does not itself settle who is responsible for missing time.

Payroll Mate keeps the core payroll work straightforward. It handles wages, deductions, taxes, and year-end forms without a lot of extra noise, which is what I want in a payroll system. The flexible pay rates and deduction setup make it easier to deal with different employee types, and the tax calculation side has been reliable in practice. It feels aimed at small businesses and accountants rather than large HR departments, and that focus shows. The interface is practical, not flashy, but it gets the job done. For a small operation that needs accuracy and compliance more than bells and whistles, it is a strong fit.
